The TRACKS ARE SAVED!

The City Council passed the rail with trail plan unanimously on November 25, 2019.

The LSMR would like to thank all those that supported keeping the tracks by writing to the mayor, City staff, and Duluth News Tribune over the past few years.

The focus of the LSMR now is to navigate the Super Fund Cleanup process and provide access to the river estuary all along our route as much as possible while this project gets underway. We do not have much information on how this may impact our excursions.  We will keep you posted here on the web site and emails.

Note the name change of the trail, was called Western Waterfront Trail

These two articles helped our supporters understand how the process started out and how we got to a place where the City has changed its plans.  This is good news for the train and all that love our service to the area.

                                                                                                         Statement of Non-Discrimination & Inclusiveness

In keeping with the LS&M’s mission to share the early history of the railroad and the rich nature of the St. Louis River, the LS&M strives to provide an inclusive environment which respects the value of each individual, whether they are volunteers, passengers or the general public. LS&M leaders recognize and appreciate diverse perspectives for group decisions to achieve effective collaborative compromise.

Volunteer assignments will be made without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, public assistance status, disability and familial status. Given the safety and regulation driven nature of the railroad industry, equal access will be allowed to potential railroad volunteers to perform preferred tasks for which they are able to meet Federal Railroad Administration requirements.
